New Year's Rally... Y2K+9
Red River Area of Louisiana
Colfax, Louisiana

December 29 - January 2, 2009

Hosts: Your Club's Officers

Celebrate the New Year with fellow Traveling Supremes and visit the
Red River Area of Louisiana while there.

Discovering the Red River...
DeSoto found it while exploring the Mississippi for riches. Bienville followed its route to explore north Louisiana. St. Denis spent years searching its shores for gold and silver. Early settlers and farmers used it to ship cotton and other goods to New Orleans. The Confederate Army used it to move food and troops south. The Union Army used it to move food and troops north. Steamboat lines from St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati roamed its waters.

In recent years the river has been transformed through the completion of a major Federal river improvement project that straightened the stream, stabilized its banks, eliminated flooding and made year-round navigation possible. And after completing 5 lock & dams in 1994, today, the River provides recreational opportunities to Louisiana residents and commercial opportunities the world over.

Rally Location: Colfax, Louisiana
Both the town and parish were founded in 1869, with the parish named for President Ulysses S. Grant, and the town for his vice president. The town is of historical importance because of the Colfax Riot of April 13, 1873, more recently termed the Colfax Massacre. Our Rally in Colfax is at the Colfax RV Park, 200 Control House Rd., Colfax, LA 71417, 318 627-2640. It’s adjacent to Lock & Dam #3. Park facilities include spacious RV sites with water and electric and a Recreation room for our meetings, meals, and entertainment. From here you can explore up & down the river, eat some good Louisiana food, kickback and enjoy the River Life with fellow RVers. Our club has had several rallies’ here and you can find pictures from the May 2-6, 2007 Rally elsewhere on our web site that show some pictures of the park and surrounding area.

Rally Activities:
Our present itinerary is a Welcome dinner on Dec. 29; 3 breakfasts; Heavy Hors d' oeuvres on New Years Eve and a Potluck Dinner for New Years Day. There will be sign up sheets available. Of course nights find the meeting room with Ladies playing card games and the Men enjoying some not so serious discussions. Our gift exchange will bring many laughs, hoops, and hollers. Each rally attendee will receive detailed information several weeks prior to the actual date, so that we are all prepared and know what to expect. We will have a gift exchange on New Years Eve. Please bring one gift PER PERSON wrapped as interestingly as possible, as we will not open the gifts until every gift has been taken. We would like for your gifts to be handmade,(i.e. crafts or foods), or something edible, or drinkable. Remember to camouflage your gifts to make the exchange exciting!
Please visit out YK2 +8 Rally elsewhere on this site to see pictures and comments of last year’s New Year’s Eve Party.
