Winter at Blanco River RV Park!
They have over 5 feet of snow at the campground, which is more snow they have had in 14 years they have lived there.Wolf Creek pass is open on the west side to accomodate the skiers. The east side is closed due to avalanche dangers. We have had pictures from friends just outside of Durango and they have had equal amounts of snow there also.

A Traveling Supremes Gathering In The Mountains
PAGOSA SPRINGS RENDEZVOUS

The Party’s Over.....
8-27-08

Well, not exactly! We have been rendezvousing all month but our group is gradually going home or to other places. The Vanns, Cooks, and Williams left last Monday. We had a great time visiting sights in the area, shopping in Pagosa Springs or points west, enjoying the hot springs, fishing, night time temperatures in the 40’s, etc. Everyone did their own thing except when we were eating. Sometimes that was a potluck and sometimes that was delicious Chinese at the Shanghi or prime rib at Boss Hogs.

We still have 4 rigs here (the Brians, Skinners, Butauds, and us) and we are still enjoying the same things, only we are having more pot lucks. Yesterday was the Butauds’ pork roast and a full supply of vegetables and salad. Today is pizza day by the Skinners and tomorrow is bratwurst on the barbe by the Brians. We are finishing off with pancakes and sausage on Friday morning. Does it seem that we are emphasizing eating? You got it, we TSers like to eat and that is when we do fellowship really well.

The Butauds and Fishers will be leaving on Saturday, the 30th, but that will still leave the Skinners and Brians to pot luck.

Polk has developed a new skill cutting down Aspen trees and making up walking sticks (see pictures). He has developed real skill with the wood burning tool. I think that he is going to set up a booth at the Sponsor’s Rally to sell his creations. You can ask him about it anyway. His rig is definitely going to be heavier going home . I think that we have all had a great, cool time. Why don’t you plan to join us next year? Chris and I will be here all of July and August. Y’all come anytime. If we have two or more rigs, it is pot luck time!!!!!

I wish to report that the food is great not to mention the fellowship 13 days into our rendezvous. Travel Supreme rallies, gatherings, rendezvous, or where ever TS members are gathered together the food and fellowship is always great.

We started with a rainbow trout fish fry followed by a chicken spaghetti pot luck sponsored by the Butauds followed by wieners and bratwursts on the barbie pot luck sponsored by the Cooks and a great breakfast this morning put on by the Brians (eggs, sausage, and French toast). The Vanns are hosting hamburgers next week on Tuesday evening. You can see that we have eating well covered.

Brett and Judy Williams showed up last Monday, August 11th. They plan to be here until the 25th. So our group has grown to 7 rigs.

We had two meetings of the Executive Committee led by our President, Ida Cook, over the last two weeks. We had some lively discussions about the results of the opinion survey and developed some suggested changes in the by-laws to fit our new situation as an independent club. You will be hearing more about that before the Sponsor’s Rally when we will vote on these changes. Our club is alive and well.

Fishing is still good. Les Cook and I are working on the raw materials for another fish fry. I have to tell you that with Polk Brian and Bobby Skinner there, Les and I will really have to work not to run out of fish!!!!

I hate to brag but the picture is real. No place to purchase fish that big around here! Les and I caught our limits today. Trying to stay humble as a Fisherman......Gene

W
e are all here so why not start our rendezvous early? We have six rigs here for the month of August so we are off to a record (in length) rendezvous. We intend to make all of you envious of us enjoying the cool (60’s) nights here near Pagosa Springs, CO. It does get pretty warm (80’s) during the afternoon but as long as you are in the shade it is delightful. We have the Brians, Butauds, Cooks, Vanns, Skinners, and Fishers here already and are expecting Rhett and Judy Williams to arrive on the 11th.

Gene and Chris’s family were here for the first week of July and had fun fishing. Gene got lucky and caught enough additional fish to have a fish fry last Saturday night by the river. The weather cooperated and we had a great time (see pictures). Everyone got their fill of rainbow trout and additional fixings that everyone contributed.

This is a rally with no host and yet everyone here is a host (no rally fee). Whenever anyone wants to sponsor a pot luck (set the theme for a feast) everyone is ready to contribute with a delicious dish. Great food is never a problem at a Traveling Supremes rally, gathering, or rendezvous. Wish all of you were here to enjoy with us.

Ida has called a mid-year Executive Meeting since we do have a quorum of Officers and Past Presidents present. We will be discussing the bright future for the Traveling Supremes, Inc. The demise of Travel Supreme and the Travel Supreme Owners Association won’t have any significant effect on our club except to require some minor changes in our by-laws. Your executive committee wants to thank all of you for responding to the member survey.

More later….
