Rally
Poche’s Fish ‘N Camp
Nov. 15 - 17, 2007
Breaux Bridge, LA |

See
Minutes.....
The
Sponsor’s Rally held in Breaux Bridge, was well attended with
16 rigs even though we had several cancellations at the last minute.
For those that did attend, our usual fun and good food started early
as several rigs arrived on Monday at Poche’s Fish-n-camp in
Breaux Bridge, La. Everyone had an opportunity to check out the
area until the rest of the gang arrived on Wednesday or Thursday.
Thursday
evening the rally started with cracklins, Boudin and Sausage nibbles,
then the main course of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo set the stage
for lots of good food. Speaking of good food we had many of our
dishes catered by Poche’s thanks to our sponsors Jim and John
Gauthier of Gauthier’s
RV.
Friday,
the day started early which is customary for most of our rallies
especially to South Louisiana to enjoy the Cajun lifestyle and delicious
food. Paul Rees cooked a “mess” of fish with all the
trimmings including curly-Q’s. Jack Bruce and Ken “Candy”
Wellock barbequed our chickens. Burnel Moreau also made his famous
sausage gravy chugged full of sausage, yum!
Several
of our group traveled to Crowley and toured the Crystal Rice Heritage
Farm, which was established in 1880. The tour included Francine’s
Blue Rose Museum that was housed in an Acadian style cottage. Francine
had an appreciation for collectables ranging from fine china to
furniture. The group also enjoyed viewing several classic cars.
An interesting presentation about how rice and crawfish are produced
on a working farm ended the tour. A good meal of grilled chicken,
veggies and pecan pie ended the busy day.
Saturday
was a day of relaxation, meetings, both executive and business,
and a fine catfish dinner. The usual group pictures were taken and
officers were elected. After the meeting many of the group stayed
to enjoy more time together.
The rally provided fun and fellowship. It was great being able to
visit with all of our friends and to make welcome several new ones.
Our group grew by 4 new members, Shirley and Bill Brown, Herman
and Betty Sabrsula, Dave and Shirley Bratton and returnees Don and
Nancy Sheridan.
There was an explosion of a gas well near I-10 shutting down the
interstate for 30 miles closing the section between Lafayette and
Baton Rouge, so many of our attendees stayed until Monday to avoid
the heavy traffic going home on an alternate route.
Thanks
to the past presidents for their hard work in making the rally a
success. A special thanks is extended to the Gauthier family for
the contributions that Gauthier’s
RV provides for the Traveling Supremes.
