Membership Survey Results

This survey seeks input from you as a member of the Traveling Supremes, Inc. Your response will help guide our Executive Committee as it works on changes that we may need to make in our club structure now that the Travel Supreme business has been sold, and the Travel Supreme brand will not be manufactured in the future. The questionnaires need to be returned to Lou Butaud by July 18, 2008. Note that there is space after each question for any additional response/comment that you may wish to make. Please use a No. 2 pencil or ballpoint pen to clearly mark your selected response to each question. Please remember that regardless of what changes we make to our club structure and bylaws, all current members will be “grandfathered” into continued club membership.

BEFORE REVIEWING THE TABULATED RESPONSES PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

General comments regarding the tabulation of the results of the survey are as follows:
A. The total number of responses received was 43 out of a current membership of 72 .
B. Of the responses received, 41 submitted completed surveys. All of the questions do not have 41 total responses because some of the members did not answer the questions and some checked both answers and some just wrote comments.
C. Comment responses were not tallied unless the comments clearly supported one position

Questions and Results:
1. The consensus of the Working Group appointed by our president, Ida Cook, was to give Gauthier RV the option of either remaining our club sponsor, or opting out of sponsorship. If they decide not to remain as club sponsor do you favor:

7 -

Seek another RV dealer as Club Sponsor
33 -
Operate without a formal Club Sponsor. Under this scenario, it would be possible for RV dealers or other businesses to participate as event sponsors.

2. What kind of club should we be (or become)?

25 -

A “destination” club that plans most of its rallies around festivals, interesting events or places that members would like to visit.

7 -
A club that meets on some kind of set schedule for rallies that are primarily social in nature. Rallies might be held at locations that minimize travel for most members.

6 -

A smaller club than we now have (perhaps 25-40 members)

4. This club was originally formed as a chapter of the International Supreme Travel Club (now the Travel Supreme Owners Association) with a membership base primarily in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas . Over the years we have added members from other areas of the country. What kind of membership base should we have in the future?

31 -
There should be no geographical restrictions on membership. We should recruit members nationwide.

10 -
We should concentrate on being a regional club centered around the original group of states that we started in.

5. With today’s fuel prices, what is the maximum distance that you would be comfortable driving to attend rallies?

10 -
250 mile

7 -
500 miles

1 -
800 miles

23 -
Travel distance is not a problem

6. If the Travel Supreme Owners Association ceases to exist, or if we decide to end our relationship with them do you favor:

36 -
Become an independent club with no affiliation

4 -
Affiliate with another national/international group such as Good Sam or Escapes

*Since the publication of this survey, the Travel Supreme Owners Association has ceased to exist.

7. Without new Travel Supreme owners as a pool of future members, we need to give thought to what criteria, if any, we establish for membership eligibility. These are some of the ideas that have been advanced. Please rank them in numerical order of your preference with one being the criteria you favor the most. If you do not like an alternative, do not rank it.

2.1 -
Prospective new members must own a motorhome (Class A, B or C), fifth wheel trailer or bumper hitch trailer that is less than 10 years old at the time they apply for membership. No pop ups allowed

1.9 -
Prospective new members must be nominated by a current club member in good standing.

1.8 -
Prospective new members must be nominated by a current club member in good standing and attend at least one rally as a guest. After that their application would have to be approved by the Executive Committee in order for them to join the club

2.6 -
Prospective new members must be nominated by a current club member in good standing, and attend rallies as a guest (or provisional member) for a year. Once a year, a roster of prospective members would be circulated to all members for their vote. Prospective members would have to receive a favorable vote from at least 2/3rds of those voting

3.8 -
Establish a list of RV’s by brand name that would make a person eligible for membership

8. Answer Yes or No to the following:
Members should be limited to one or two nominations for new members per year.

17 -
Yes

21 -
No
Comments and suggestions for membership criteria

9. As an “owners club”, we have always been insured that all members would have at least one thing in common – we all liked our brand of RV. Since Travel Supremes have always been in the upper end of RV’s in quality and price, our members tend to be somewhat grouped on the socio-economic scale. Do you feel that we need membership criteria in the future that will provide the kind of commonality that an “owners club” provides.
  25 - Yes
  14 - No

Thanks to Bill Waters for composing the questions for the survey and to Lou Butaud for coordinating the survey and tabulating the results and to Polk Brian for helping to audit the tabulated results.

Most important, thanks to all of you who responded. Forty-three responses are absolutely fantastic!
