Over two thousand rigs gathered in Waldran, Arkansas, for the Turkey
Track Bluegrass Festival. TS had six of those rigs; they were
the Skinners, James H. Smiths, Cooks, B. Odoms, Brians, and friends
of the Skinners, the Jenkins from Blooming Grove.
The
Skinner's and Brian's
arrived early to “stake-out” our territory for the others
to have a place to park close together and to place everyone’s
chairs at the festival grounds. The park has 30 amps, no sewage
but a dump and a honey wagon, and electric and water poles about
50 feet apart. We had no problems with any of our services. They
also have trolleys taking you to the outside arena for the performances.
The
singing started on Wednesday night and two-a-day shows were run
through Saturday night. I don’t think we missed a one. Nor
did we miss any potluck meals. Since they don’t have many
places to eat out, we managed to survive on home cooking! Naturally
we did find a good Mexican place to eat.
You
would think with over two thousand rigs, it would be very difficulty
getting out. We have had no problem getting into the park our out,
so don’t let the numbers scare you off next year. We are hoping
to do this again.
